I’ve been waiting for fall to get here and although I love summer, this year has been scorching hot. I have been fortunate to be away from that heat wave that hit part of the nation but since I am in the south east, it’s still pretty gosh darn hot. I’ve been working on patterns and tutorials for this site but the process has been slow to start. I hope to get it up by mid September along with some patterns. As I have no yarn, it’ll be a while before I can really do some swatching.
In the meanwhile, I have been busying myself making apple butter. I picked up some yummy honey crisp and ginger crisp apples and they were delicious.
So I got news that Knit Happens is closing and it makes me so sad. I remember spending my late summer/early fall in Old Town Alexandria, VA grabbing nice homemade chocolates and then spending my afternoon haunting the store. I loved the selection of yarns they had there, the nice sales, the lovely samples, and the people. They were incredible nice and were very helpful in converting my friend Travis into one of the few men with balls (of yarn.)
So Knit Happens, you will be sorely missed.
I was checking my yarn stash and I thought to myself, “My it is getting awfully low.” Not the oh, I may need a few balls here and there. No, the I will have to resort to making horribly mismatched granny squares/color vomit sweaters. (I have nothing against granny squares or color vomit sweaters.)
So I have been cheerfully looking at my favorite online yarn stores. So much to choose from. O.o I am pleased with knitpicks adding a new yarns. The new colorways are lovely. I love Lorna’s Lace and especially Sweet Georgia.
Unfortunately, the nearest local yarn store from me has odd hours that change randomly and the owner to put it nicely is very rude and her yarn selection never changes. She never marks down her old yarn to make room for new merchandise. Enough gripping…
Right now. I am looking for a nice knitting software. I have about twenty odd ideas, but they won’t be worth anything if it will only work in certain sizes and quite frankly, that is unfair. Not everybody is a certain size and height and I want to design for the realistic woman/man/child.
This is my first post and I figured I can use it to tell you a little more about what is going with this page. It’ll be used mostly to showcase my obsession with knitting, crocheting, yarn, writing, books, and so on and so forth. So I would like to bid you hellos.
